Oil Soluble Dyes

The best wax-based dyes available! These premium-quality professional candle dyes provide superior coloring. Unlike other candle colorants, these dyes have been developed exclusively for use in candles and have excellent burn properties.

They produce rich, vivid colors that are resistant to fading and bleeding and there is no color variation from batch to batch.

Dissolve dye flakes in the wax formulation at approximately 185F. Mix the dyes into the wax well and check that they are completely dissolved before pouring. For large batches, mix the dye into a small amount of wax and then add this mixture to the larger vat.

Solid-Coloring Dosage
0.1% to 0.2% by weight of wax formulation (between 1 and 2 grams per kilogram -
between .5 grams (.018 oz) and 1 gram (.035 oz) per pound of wax). One pound of dye flakes will color approximately 700 to 1000 lbs of paraffin.
For color consistency, always add the same quantity of color to your wax formulation.

Some wax blends will require a higher dosage of color due to the opacity of the wax blend. The shade of color attained with each dye will change in different wax blends. Additives such as microwax, PE, Vybar and stearine can affect the strength and shade of the color. Fragrances may react with the dye and can change the properties and the appearance of colors. The color of the fragrance used may affect the shade of color of the dye.

For best results, use wax melters and batch tanks with indirect heating. Direct heating will deteriorate wax and destroy dyes. Temperatures that are too high and maintaining the wax formulation at high temperatures for extended lengths of time can result in color deviations.
